Question 1

What does a sound engineer do at an event?

Accepted Answer

A sound engineer sets up and tests the audio system, runs sound checks, mixes what the audience and performers hear, manages microphones and wireless systems, prevents feedback and deals with technical problems throughout the event.

Question 2

Can I book a sound engineer without hiring a PA system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our freelance sound engineers can operate a venue system or equipment supplied by another production company, covering front of house, monitors, system engineering or stage audio.

Question 3

Does every event need a dedicated sound engineer?

Accepted Answer

No. A small meeting using a tested installed system may not need one. Live bands, multiple microphones, outdoor audiences, monitoring, recording and complex running orders normally benefit from a dedicated engineer.

Question 4

How many sound engineers will my event need?

Accepted Answer

A straightforward conference or band show can often be handled by one engineer. Larger stages may need separate front-of-house and monitor engineers plus stage technicians. The programme and changeover times matter as much as audience size.

Question 5

Do you provide equipment-only dry hire?

Accepted Answer

We do not generally advertise equipment-only dry hire to the public. Our public PA service is normally operated, while our freelance engineers can be booked separately to work with suitable existing equipment.
